For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, the mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, the captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator. And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
The thing that has happened in the world, and certainly in our country, has happened in the church as well.
We still have men of war. We have cunning artificers. But we have a small minority of men and women who can actually judge. We have no prophets. (Jonathan Cahn? A false teacher, pure and simple.) We have few prudent. The ancients are marginalized. And where is the eloquent orator? Few among Christian teachers deserve the title.
Some will say I am an aging Cassandra. But of course that is how elders are dismissed and marginalized, except where they tickle the ears of the hearer. It is not only me. All the elders in your churches sit in their pews, if not in the back row. Entirely marginalized in favor of the younger generation. Wisdom, when it comes, is dismissed as "old-fashioned."
I do not say I am right. But when the Lord returns, we will all know the truth once and for all. Every mouth, certainly mine included, will be stopped.
